Why would Trump pick an idiot like Pete Hegseth as the Secretary of Defense?

Pete Hegseth proclaimed in the meeting with the U.S. top brass: “I don’t want my son serving alongside troops who are out of shape or in combat units with females who can’t meet the same combat arms physical standards as men.”

Let’s not concentrate on the stylistic misogyny of using the words “men” and “females” in the same sentence.

Let’s get straight to the combat value of Hegseth’s “military standards”:

  • There are mums in Ukraine who are successfully running Air Defence, shielding millions of civilians in cities from brutal attacks that include hundreds of missiles and drones, shooting down 90–97% of targets. Some decorated by Zelenskyy himself.
  • Many of them probably wouldn’t pass Hegseth’s ‘standards.’
  • But Hegseth’s army would be shredded to pieces by 19-year-old Ukrainian girls who drop bombs from drones with the skill of a PlayStation controller.

Hegseth is so stuck in the past.

There are roles in the modern army where women aren’t just matching men’s abilities, but show superior resilience and skill.

Ukraine managed to stop the mighty Russian war machine by fighting “Ender’s Game” style — Hegseth is still stuck in WW1 trenches.

A failed TV host and a 5-time army dodger came to lecture decorated U.S. generals who went through several wars, on “warrior ethos.”

Trump and Hegseth’s show today clearly embarrassed the U.S. military leadership.

A lot of medals of valor in that room — and not the kind you get for fake bone spurs.

Obviously, Trump picked Hegseth because he wanted someone like him in the position of the “Secretary of War.”

Which tells you everything you need to know about both of them.

I don’t normally go in for conspiracy theories, and what I’m going to say sounds like a good one, but here goes.

If you bear in mind that Trump is not only detail-averse, but a narcissist, and nowhere near as sharp as he once was, then how difficult would it be to believe that he is being manipulated by others in the US government?

Its significant that virtually all the figureheads “running” the US are woefully unqualified to perform their job.

Trump barely reads what he signs, and how many executive orders has he signed so far? Do you really think he came up with all those executive orders himself?

Vance is a yes man, hoping that once Trump has served his term it’ll be he who is next in line. Noem, Patel, hegseth? All just figureheads meant to divert attention from what is really happening.

Miller is the real power in the government. And behind him are others, the architects of the Project 2025 manifesto that Trump claimed to know nothing about (and he probably didn’t understand all that much about it).

But if you look at what has been done since Trump took office, it’s pretty clear where the inspiration came from. And, if you follow the stated goals of the manifesto, you can see where the US is headed if something isn’t done to reverse the weakening of power of the other branches of government.

At the very least, if the Dems don’t take back control of Congress, it is very unlikely there will be free elections in 2028!
