The Iranians have a few issues with the American Navy. The first one is that Iranian ships cannot go out that far into the sea to reach the American ships.

It’s typically standard protocol to operate at the maximum distance possible to limit threats. Aircraft carriers launch planes, and then they refuel on the way to the target and back. They definitely refuel at least once. The destroyers and other ships launching cruise missiles also operate at the limit of the missiles’ range.

The second issue is that where the ships are at one time is not where they are 5 minutes later. Forty minutes can pass, and the battle group can move 20+ miles away in any direction. What about those hypersonic missiles that the Chinese and Iranians lied about? The biggest issue is the Iranian navy has little to no ships capable that are sea worthy. They been sunk or are green water vessels.

They got hundreds of these and thought they could take out the United States navy… The Iranian navy has been rebuilt to take on the Americans because the last time they tangled iran for owned in like 30 minutes and lost half it’s fleet.
