I think what horrifies Europeans the most is that an actor who was the lead in a very popular 1990s US TV show, and starred in a series of Hollywood movies, recently died from cancer leaving his wife and family destitute.
He hadn’t blown the money on drugs or bad investments but on healthcare. If a wealthy Hollywood actor’s family can end up destitute due to the cost of healthcare what chance do ordinary Americans have? Nobody goes bankrupt due to cancer in Europe.
I’m getting tired of all the gaslighting on here from certain Americans who insist insurance coverage is easily obtained by everyone, not cost prohibitive, and nobody goes bankrupt. I have since learned that Medicare can re-possess the family home to cover medical expenses leaving the family homeless.
I’ve also been surprised at the amount of Americans who don’t know what actor I’m referring to. His death was widely reported across many media outlets. I’m astonished the amount of people who don’t seem to follow the news at all.
You don’t have to keep posting asking who it is. Many people have answered this. Repeatedly. In the comments.
