What hero could have beaten Thanos by themselves?

Doctor Strange.

This is a character that was cut out of the movie for this very reason. He’s too powerful. The studio made him fight a waterfall instead of engage with Thanos. Why? Because if he would have met Thanos in battle, then he would have beaten him almost instantly. The Titan has no counter attack for Strange’s magic. His physical strength is beyond obsolete. Back in Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos threw a black hole at Strange, and he turned it into a flock of butterflies.

That was a Thanos wielding a four stoned gauntlet. Had he not been wielding it, Strange could have simply sent him to the Mirror Dimension.
