Canada fought the Nazis from September of 1939, while US corporations like IBM, Ford, Coca Cola, and DuPont collaborated with them. If Canada was willing to fight the Nazis for years to defend and free allied countries in Europe, and even neutral countries that had been occupied, like the Netherlands, how much more do you think we’d be willing to defend our own country today?

The American military is strong, that’s not in doubt. The German military was also strong. It didn’t matter. If you fight a war, it’s because it’s the right thing to do. If your soldiers don’t believe that, you don’t win. Canada’s a friendly country. A country that tried to forge a peaceful path with the Soviets, and proactively disarmed our nuclear weapons. Some mistake this for weakness.

Understand that we wouldn’t think twice about nuking any country that invades, and we’re basically shoved right up America’s ass. Look at a map. The US Anti-Ballistic Missle shield is designed to defend against missles shot from Europe and Asia, not from point blank range.

We’re the second largest producer of uranium on the planet and are sitting on the largest stockpile of “waste” plutonium on the planet. The exact same “waste” plutonium that India used to build its nukes. Canada also produced most of the worst chemical weapons of the late cold war era for the US and allied militaries. Not exactly something we’re proud of, but if you fuck with with us, know that we will be lay waste to your country with neutron bombs and Agent Orange.

You can’t even fire back your own weapons of mass destruction because the dominant wind patterns in North America blow southeast. There’s an Alberta Clipper in the US, but no Idaho Clipper in Canada. You cannot nuke Canada without irradiating north states. Remember how smokey the skies were a couple of years ago because of the Canadian wildfires? Canada wasn’t blowing the smoke down there with giant fans.

It you want to play war, go occupy Venezuela. If you come to Canada, it will be the last thing the US ever does.

Comments like these are enough to convince even the most pragmatic thinkers that the USA is now well beyond its ‘best before date’. Of course there are no surveys which reliably gauge the population’s desires and intentions, but do we need those at this point?

The answer is no. The USA is internally rotten to the core. Republicans and Democrats have learned to hate each other to death. So in a rage of complete irrational anger and defiance the Republicans chose a known racist, Fascist, demagogue, crook, rapist and convict to run for president and the country is so decayed that this guy, who should be in the ‘Big House’ is now in the White House.

We, your Canadian neighbors, look down in horror to our once trusted friend and ally south of the border. It’s like a once trusted friend or pet who has caught rabies, has completely gone mad and can no longer be trusted.

Congress will not make any declaration of the sort, as suggested in the question, because it would be the start of WW III. Hopefully the mid-term election later on in 2026 will bring some clarity and moderation.
