Sure.
As a Californian, I’m all for that. Let California and New York be our own country.
But before anyone “removes” us from the USA , I like to remind them some minor details.
California now owns the fourth largest economy in the world. Its 2024 GDP of $4.1 trillion accounted for almost 15% of the nation’s total. New York’s $2.1T is third biggest of the country.
California is the bread basket of the world and easily the biggest agricultural products producer in the Union. It is feeding you, the rest of the country and the world.
Every year California and New York send the most money to the federal government to subsidize poor red states. BTW. Texas, with the 2nd biggest GDP in the country, received more money than they gave to the federal government. California gave $276B more than they received from the federal government.
The media capital, the financial capital, the fashion capital, and the cultural capital of the world are in New York.
The technology and innovation capital of the world is in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The AI capital of the world is in San Francisco.
The film, music, and television capital of the world is in Los Angeles.
57 of the Fortune 500 companies are located in California. 52 in New York. Most and second most in the country.
California has 199 billionaires. New York 136. Most and second most in the country.
Want to study at Stanford, UC Berkeley, California Institute of Technology, UCLA, Columbia, or Cornell? You have to apply for a visa and enroll as a foreign student. FYI. Five faculty members and alumni of University of California schools have won a record five Nobel Prizes in 2025. They will no longer be called Nobel Laureates from the United States.
Want a smart phone? Want a head of lettuce? Almond nuts? You have to import them.
Yep. No problem. Let Texas and Florida send their money to help those poor red states.
California and New York will thrive as a country. And no doubt many other blue states would love to join.
