Musk had a bad week. First, he angered Carlos Slim, the richest man in Mexico, with a tweet insinuating he was a gangster. Slim, worth $85 billion, canceled all his Starlink contracts, costing Musk $6 billion.

Then, yet another Space X rocket blew up on take-off, raining debris across a wide swath of the country. Flights were delayed as far away as Miami and Philadelphia. Needless to say, the FAA is not pleased.

He’s also been under scrutiny because of the excessive number of Starlink satellites that have been falling from the sky prematurely, raining toxic debris into the atmosphere and oceans. Just in January 120 fell. Some of the earlier models are flawed and they are being decommissioned early. Another 100 have recently been “recalled.”

Tesla’s sales in Europe have tanked. Just in Germany, the sales of EVs rose 31% while the sales of Teslas declined 76%.

Specific data is hard to come by since X/Twitter is a private company, but industry reports suggest they have lost a significant number of users, especially in the US (down 15%) and the UK (down 12%.) Loss of users means ad revenues are likely down, too.

There is growing anger and push back regarding Musk’s handling of DOGE. Axios reported that sources were saying that lawmakers have been unnerved at the flood of negative feedback they are getting from constituents regarding Musk’s efforts.

Musk is definitely not winning at anything these days.

I think Elon Musk is losing it because he’s he has a substance abuse problem, among other things.

I saw a chart of when he tweets, and he seems to sleep most often (when he’s not tweeting) between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. He’s not getting enough sleep. We know he uses controlled substances, and with his wealth, he would have access to unlimited supplies. Add to that his junior-high, look-at-me antics, and I think it’s clear to any onlooker that the man is not emotionally well, and may be having physical issues, as well.

He is currently under pressure from shareholders, and that pressure is likely to increase. I can’t see that kind of stress doing wonders for his mental state.

If he doesn’t crash and burn within the next two years or so, I’ll be very surprised.
