How often are US Navy submarine crews allowed to shower while at sea?

While I was in (79 to 01), we would shower once a day or so (unless the evaporator was broken, then showers were secured).

However we took “submarine showers”. Turn water on, get wet, turn water off, soap up and shampoo, turn water on, rinse off, turn water off. Total time water is on is about 30 to 45 seconds. Water use is minimal.

Every once in a while, we would be allowed “Hollywood Showers” where you didn’t turn the water off though we were still pretty quick.
