No-one does not like the British Spitfire. We consider it as the plane that rescued the world. However long the Spitfire was in reality in severe difficulties. Germany had constructed an aircraft that was superior to an extent that it almost empty British skies.
Meet the “Butcher Bird”
In 1941, the German Fw 190 arrived. It was the most modernized sports car driving against an old farm truck. The following is the reason it was much better than the Spitfire:

Modern Systems: The Spitfire worked on the archaic air tubes to transport its components. The German aircraft utilized electricity. It was more efficient and reliable.
- Brute Strength: Fw 190 engine was far more powerful. It was capable of diving more quickly and rolling side to side far much better.
- Design Improvement: It was very rugged in wing, and had large landing wheels. This gave it increased difficulty to break and less difficulty to maintain. It was a “perfect” war machine.
Eleven Months of Fear

Between August 1941 and July 1942, the control of the air over France and England belonged to the Germans. Fw 190 was so frightening that the British Air Force was forced to ground their aircrafts. They were aware that when a Spitfire took off it was unlikely to land again.
The Turning Point
The British didn’t give up. They returned to the drawing board and constructed a new one known as Spitfire Mk IX. This new model was equipped with a special engine known as super which made it have a surprising power at high altitudes. This was the first new engine which enabled the British to retaliate and reclaim their sky against the Germans.
My Final Thought
The Spitfire was the king, but it fell out of favour almost a year. Fw 190 was a masterpiece that made the Allies either improve or perish. It is a good lesson: Success is never lasting. You must continue getting better or you will be replaced by another person.
