Well, in Dutch, there is a saying: “veel beloven en weinig geven, doet de zotten in vreugde leven”.

Which roughly translates to:
“making lots of promises and never delivering on any of them makes a happy fool”

Trump promised to end the Ukraine war in less than 24 hours, because only he, il Supremo, could do so.
He promised that prices of groceries would go way down, because that Bidden fella has allowed it to go out of hand.
He promised to deport all illegal aliens with a criminal record.
He promised to make US government more ‘cost efficient’.

Basically, he made all the right promises to make his fans go “woohoow!!!!”

Anyone who knows the basics of the Ukraine war understands that Trump hasn’t got a shot at ending it, never did. All he could do was ask Ukraine politely to ‘lay down and play dead’, so his best bud Putin could get his victory.
Anyone who knows the basics of economics knows that POTUS can’t just “wave a magic wand” and make everything become cheaper.
Trump’s ICE (ICE babies) are trying to deport anyone and everyone with a slightly different color skin tone. They don’t bother to check whether they are illegal aliens. They don’t bother to check whether they have committed any crimes. They just detain them and try to get rid of them.

Trump had his South-African super-fan Elon Musk set up his super-duper task force, and cut costs wherever they could. They ‘royally’ f*cked up, as was to be expected. Many things they cut, simply because they had no idea what those people were doing.

Remember how they cut everyone who kept oversight of anything nuclear related in the US, and had to rehire them on the double because you really can’t do without? Good times.

The point is: Trump is an experienced conman. He knows what promises to make, and he knows who to make promises to.

And then, there was of course the “I got shot and now am doing a small fist pump dance” routine.

If there actually was a threat from an active shooter, Trump jumping up, pumping his fist and yelling “FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!” was not courageous, it was either stupidity or a suicide attempt, neither of which would prove him to be a competent leader.

But his fans loved him. They called him a “brave patriot”, who “right after being shot”, defied his attacker.
He was supposedly shot in the ear. Believe it or not, but we are not rainworms. Your ear gets damaged? That’s it. Unless you undergo some major plastic surgery.

Trump did not undergo any surgery for his ear, but he hasn’t even got a scar to show for it.
But as long as the fans believe him, they vote his way.

Even now, when thousands of their own have gone on the record to say that Trump’s tariffs are bankrupting their businesses, many of his fans still hail his economics policies as pure genius, even though only days after his inauguration, his secretary of finance stated in an interview, that their top priority was “giving tax breaks to the 1%”.

His fans WANT to believe him, so they DO believe him. Many of them just aren’t smart enough to wake up and smell the coffee.
