Is mass immigration going to destroy Europe?

I just cycled through west Amsterdam and you would think you’re in Baghdad or Damascus. All Muslim, women in jihabs, some faces fully covered, all restaurants halal, etc. But the apartment blocks were simple, clean, and modern, plenty of canals and trees, and nice parks with (Muslim) people enjoying the day. As I headed further west I began seeing more industry, factories, etc.

Seems to me the key to integration is JOBS, JOBS, JOBS. I always felt in US most immigrants integrate well because of the abundance of jobs which makes them interact with the natives at work. People migrate to US for work, not handouts. On the other hand, if immigrants in EU get big social benefits (yes they do, I’ve personally seen it) without as much work opportunity, then you get large populations of immigrants that will not integrate by staying at home or mingling in their neighborhoods with like people.

Basically EU needs to move away from the social welfare model and instead focus on global industrial competitiveness so you’ll have JOBS and then INTEGRATION. Macron knows this but look at the sorry state France is now in, the voters do not tolerate the tough medicine. They do not accept reality. That type of reality denial will destroy Europe as much as mass immigration.

So I would say mass immigration + continued welfare state model = destroyed Europe (with parts devoured by Russia).

Mass immigration destroys anywhere it goes.

I’m a British expat in Indonesia(there is a distinction between expat and immigrant).

I arrived legally. My paperwork is 100%. I provide a service that a local is (according to govt standards) unable to do. Accordingly, I love and respect my adoptive country. I behave myself, I don’t break the law, I treat locals respectfully, and I try to learn the local language (though, I’m not as good as I’d like to be).

Accordingly, when I visit friends in Bali, I see the mass groups of Australian, British, Russian and Ukrainian tourists. Tourists who are just here for a couple of weeks often behave appallingly (especially the British and Australian). It’s like they’ve never had beer before and there’s a shortage, so they must gulp it down rapidly. These tourists occupy the tacky enclaves that the real Balinese don’t venture to.

Other tourists who stay a bit longer, often digital nomads, work illegally on tourist visas, create country-specific enclaves that exclude locals, and drive up prices. The local culture is eroded and disrespected. The locals are treated badly. And areas feel more like Mini-Kiev, rather than genuine Indonesian kampung.

Now, if Europe imports masses of people from countries, they will change the area to be more like that which they left. Europe doesn’t need that.
