Have you read Mein Kampf? Would you recommended it to an intellectually curious person?

Yes.

I read the Finnish translation in my fcucked-up teens.

My impression was that this is a rant of someone who is undeniably intelligent but completely fcucked up. It was as if it had not been edited and stylized at all.

Turned out it wasn’t. Hitler dictated it from memory to Rudolf Hess while in prison, and Hess didn’t really edit it. So the result is a rather incoherent rant – fortunately, because if it had been really edited, it would have been a way more dangerous book than it is. It is hard reading, but gives also an insight on what Hitler had on his mind.

I would say it is more coherent than Qura’an, but less coherent than Atlas Shrugged.

I’ve read excerpts from it.

It’s extremely poorly written. It’s a diatribe from a particularly whiny boy in his lower teens, complaining endlessly about how great he is and that the world doesn’t get him. It’s interspersed with fan fiction set in some low-budget dystopian roleplaying campaign.

I can safely say that it’s the worst piece of writing I’ve ever encountered outside pieces that school children have been forced to write, knowing fully well that they lack talent, inspiration, and anything to say that anyone else would be interested in reading. Even the 15-year-old I came across who just wrote “THIS IS BULSHIT”* across his essay paper did better; he was at least succinct.

“Intellectually curious”? No. There is nothing in there to interest anyone who is more intellectual than a concussed seagull. I expect it is of some relevance to someone interested in the author’s psychology.

After wading through this great thick pile of seemingly never-ending waffle and soul-sickening drivel, you will be forced to realise that you can never get the time you spent on it back.

Those long hours of propping your eyes open with matchsticks and suppressing your gag reflex are not rewarded with anything more than the dubious honour of being able to say you’ve actually read this worthless piece of shit.

Mein Kampf is not a short book and when it dawns on you that you could have spent all that time doing literally anything else, you will have regrets.
