Who are some of the dumbest criminals ever to be caught?

I would like to nominate the following interesting group of guys.

In the city of Charleroi, Belgium, a group of men walk into an e-cigarette store around 3 p.m. They demand money from the owner of the shop, a man called Didier.

Didier knows he can’t fight off six men at once, so he came up with a plan. He told the wannabe robbers that 3 p.m. was a terrible time to rob his place. If only they would leave and come back around 6 p.m, when there would be more money in the cash register. The men talked with Didier for roughly 15 minutes and then left.

Didier picks up his phone and calls the cops on the gang, telling them what happened and that they would be back in a few hours.

The police listened to Didier and thought: “Nobody would be so dumb. They aren’t actually going to come back after this, right?”

False. Around 6 p.m., as instructed, the guys return to the store to rob it. The plainclothes officers who showed up just in case were there waiting for them in a back room.

I have to give it to them, they do like to believe in their fellow man.

This is 21 year old Julija Adlešič from Slovenia. She cut her left hand off with a chop saw to scam insurance companies. Her boyfriend insured her with 5 different insurance companies. But instead of fat cheque she got 2 years in jail and permanent disability. Very smart.

Dennis Nilsen butchered 15 young men in 1978.

Most of his victims were homosexual or homeless men whom he would pick up in bars across London or on the streets.

After inviting the victim into his home, Nilsen would further lure him with food and alcohol before killing him through strangulation.

Once they were dead, Nilsen dismembered their bodies by dissecting them in his house. At first, he buried their remains in his garden, but once he moved, other tactics were put in place-

He boiled the heads of his victims in a large cooking pot to dispose of their brain…

The remainder of the body was cut and stored in plastic bin bags. When the smell of their rotting corpses became stronger, Nilsen stupidly attempted to flush their limbs down the toilet and drains.

This caused a large blockage in the pipes.

You think that’s dumb…

Nilsen then actually complained to a waste company about the blockage! He asked for it to be resolved because he and his neighbours could not handle the stench.

When the waste company arrived at the property to unblock the drains, they discovered flesh and fragments of bone in the drain cover, some of which seemed to be a human hand.

The company alerted the police who then arrested Nilsen as he returned home from work.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum recommended sentence of 25 years.

This just happened a few days ago, but it’s already a classic.

Daniel Wright is casing the place. He spots the target…lemon jelly. Disguised in his sheriff’s deputy coat at the convenience store, Wright takes the donut. Perfect crime, right? All cops get free donuts. What other reason is there for even taking such a thankless job?

I know what you’re thinking. This guy is a genius.

Wright leaves, but the crew in Lehi, Utah, is suspicious. They’re not patsies. Wright didn’t look like a cop. Using their exceptional instincts, the staff at 7-Eleven calls 911, “A donut may have been stolen…lemon filling. We have the license plate number of the getaway vehicle.”

A short time later, the cops were at Wright’s house. Apparently Wright was on probation for a previous theft. Stealing a $1.25 doughnut when one has previous convictions for theft is a felony.

Wright is currently being held without bail in Utah County Jail.

And in case you are wondering, police have not yet recovered the stolen doughnut. If you find it, please notify the authorities immediately; there is currently no reward.

That’s Wright on the left and his suspected accomplice in the heist on the right. She may have been the getaway driver.

County prosecutors have not notified the media as to whether they will pursue the death penalty.
